 Reviews

  • “That incredible song was sent by Rachel Guth and Ryan Martin. I loved it. Magnificent.” —Jon Lovett, Lovett or Leave It (Podcast) “K-Popping His Bubble” (June 27, 2020)

  • “I’m so happy. Finally, I get to wax enthusiastically and unreservedly about a show at this year’s Chicago Musical Theatre Festival. The Incredible Six Thousand Foot Ladder to Heaven...is the kind of beautifully crafted piece one hopes to find at a festival like this” —Jeffery Lyle Segal, Times Square Chronicles (T2C)

  • “Despite the grand scope of the story, it’s grounded by the real, human experience of losing a loved one. The fairy tale aspects allow the characters to heighten the pain felt by a child in this situation and bolster the emotional core. Despite this, the musical still makes room for sharp comedic breaks from the drama, often through Sanderson’s Spider.” —Alec Karam, Loyola Phoenix

  • "Now go see it: Martin writes intelligently for children characters without getting twee, and his music is as driving as a far-fetched fairy tale mission needs it to be" --Patrick O'Brien, chicagolandmusicaltheatre.com

  • “It was heavenly to see the full production of The Incredible Six Thousand Foot Ladder to Heaven at @theedgetheater. A musical exploration of loss, the joy of new friendships, and the importance of learning your parents are only human. An incredible score that’s so catchy you can’t help but tap your foot and look forward to singing in the shower later. Get those tickets for @incredible6000ftladder while you can as Chicago Musical Theatre Festival by @underscoretheatre closes next week!” Chicago Theatre Triathlon, via Instagram: @chitheatretriathlon
